MRS PETER SPENST

Funeral services were conducted Friday, Dec. 10, 1948, at Winkler, Manitoba, for Mrs. Peter Spenst, who had lived in Waterloo township in Cavalier county for 51 years before moving to the Winkler vicinity. Mrs. Spenst quietly passed away on Dec. 7, 1948, at her home in Winkler.

Born in Russia, she came to America with her parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. John Veer, when she was two years old. After she married Peter Spenst on Nov. 17, 1892, they lived in Waterloo township for some time and then moved to a farm near Winkler, where they lived for 12 years before they retired and moved to Winkler.

Her husband and seven sons and four daughters survive. The sons are Jake E. of Dresden, John P. of Munich, George E. of Langdon, Peter of Cavalier, and Henry of Alsen, all North Dakota, and Abe of Homewood, Man. and Corney of Rosegard, Man. The daughters are Mary, Mrs. Jake Krahn, of Langdon, N. D.; Annie, Mrs. Jacob Heinrichs of Gretna, Man.; Elizabeth, Mrs. Henry Friesen, and Katie, Mrs. Julius Toews, both of Homewood, Man.

One sister, one step-sister, four step-brothers, 41 grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren also survive. She was preceded in death by four sons and two grandchildren.
