JACOB SPENST

Jacob Spenst was born in Ebenthal, Memrik, in 1891 to Jakob and Maria Spenst. He attended schoql in Kotljerewka and married Margaretha Huebert in 1917. Five children were born to them, and the first, a son, died in infancy. Jacob's parents both died in 1919 during a typhoid epidemic. As the oldest in the family, Jacob and his wife became parents to his brothers' and sisters . Jacob and his wife accepted Jesus as their Saviour in 1924. The family immigrated to Canada in 1925 and settled on a farm in Rosser, Manitoba. In 1927 they moved to Winnipeg and Jacob started work on construction and soon was a self-employed contractor. In 1924 he and his wife were baptized and received into the North Kildonan MB Church. He became very active in church and community affairs. In 1967, they celebrated their golden wedding anniversary, praising God for His leading. Jacob began ailing in 1965 and in 1972 he moved to Donwood Manor. He died on May 31,1973. Left to mourn are his wife, one son, Jack,3 daughters-Mary, Tina and Anneand their respective families, 2 brothers and one sister. The family would like to express appreciation to those who have visited him and to the staff of Donwood Manor who cared for him so lovingly.
