Double Funeral Held At Dresden, N. D.

Dresden, N. D. — Double funeral services were held at the Bethel Mennonite church on Oct. 11 for Mrs. Jacob Spenst and her grandson, Dale Norman Spenst, who died a few hours apart.

Mrs. Spenst died in St. Mary's hospital in Langdon, following an illness of one day. She suffered a stroke after being admitted to the hospital. Her husband died in 1942.

Dale Norman Spenst, 15, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jake A. Spenst, passed away Oct. 7 in St. Michael's hospital in Grand Forks, following nine days of hospitalization as a result of an accidental gunshot wound.

The mishap occurred at the Spenst farm home on Sept. 27 when the youth was attempting to load a shotgun for target practice. The gun accidentally discharged, causing a severe leg injury. The boy went into a coma shortly after arriving at the hospital and was placed in an iron lung the next day.

Rev. Frank Ewert, pastor of the Bethel church, was in charge of the two services.
