ZENA GRACE SOMMER

Zena Grace Sommer, daughter of Rev. and Mrs. A. W. Sommer of Kidron, was born near Dalton, Ohio, on Feb. 10, 1910, and died following a lingering illness on March 22, 1947, at the age of 37.

Early in youth she accepted Christ as her Savior, always trying to do His will, and was very much concerned about mission work. In 1939 she went to Chicago to enter the Moody Bible institute to prepare for this work. She spent three years in Chicago and worked among the Jewish people. later she spent some time in Indianapolis. In 1941 she worked with a representative of the Society of the Christian approach to the Jews, doing office work.

In 1943 she came home and was advised to enter Molly Stark Sanitarium near Canton, and remained there for two years. She was then brought home to her parents, living in the hope that she might regain her health as she felt her work was not complete. However, she submitted to His will, and God called her to her eternal reward.

She was musically inclined and thus spent many hours in singing and playing the piano. During her sickness she also composed many poems.

She is survived by her parents and two sisters, Lillian at home, and Vesta a missionary in Katsina, Nigeria, West Africa, and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held March 24 at the home with Rev. Allen Bixler of Kidron, Rev. A. S. Rosenberger of Dalton, and Rev. Gordon Bracker of Willoughby officiating. interment was in the Kidron cemetery.
