HIRAM W. SOMMER

Hiram Wesley Sommer, son of Isaac and Elizabeth Zuercher Sommer, was born near Dalton, Ohio on March 22, 1892, and died in Burton City, Ohio, on Jan. 23, 1959, at the age of 66 years, 10 months and one day.

In his youth he was baptized on the confession of his faith and became a member of the Salem Mennonite Church. Later he transferred his membership to the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church of Orrville, of which he was a faithful member at the time of his death. He taught the Men's No. 2 Sunday School Class for a few years preceding his departure.

He attended the public school at Dist. No. 6, Sugar Creek Twp., Wayne County, Ohio, Wooster College and Hiram College, where he received his college degree and was ordained to the ministry June 14, 1925. In his youth he also taught school at a number of places.

On Oct. 8, 1943, he married Ida Steiner. Two children, Irvin and Ruth, were born to this union.

He leaves his sorrowing wife and two children; his brother, Simon W. Sommer of Millersburg; two sisters, Eva, Mrs. Nelson Zuercher of Orrville, and Ida, Mrs. Simon Lehman of Kidron; and many other relatives and friends.

He will be greatly missed in the home, in his church, and in the community.
