DELMAR V. SOFT

Delmar Victor Soft, a son of Jacob and Elizabeth Graber Soft, was born on February 26, 1915, at Pretty Prairie, Kansas. He departed this life July 9, 1949, at the age of 34 years, four months and 13 days. He attended the Pretty Prairie schools and upon confession of his faith was baptized and received into the fellowship in the First Mennonite church of Pretty Prairie on May 13, 1934.

He was married to Elva Stucky on Dec. 25, 1934. To this union two children were born. The first years of their marriage were lived in the Pretty Prairie community. They then moved to the Murdock community and on January 8, 1939, he transferred his membership to the Bethany Mennonite church, being an interested and faithful member until his death.

In October of 1946, Delmar was stricken with a malady that the best of medical care and surgery could not check. For a period of over two and one-half years he endured much suffering and pain which he met with courage and quiet fortitude. The last four months of his illness he was bedfast. His last hours were quiet and peaceful.

He had hoped to the very last that he would not need to go through the valley of death, but that the Lord would come, and he could meet Him in the Clouds of Glory, together with his loved ones.

He leaves to mourn his departure, his beloved wife, one daughter Annette, 11, one son Stephen, 3, his dear mother, his invalid father, one brother, Lester and family of Pretty Prairie, and many other relatives and friends. Two sisters preceded him in death, Matilda Soft Flickner, and Florence, who died in infancy.
