ALMA RUTH SNYDER

Alma Ruth Snyder, daughter of Joe C. and Anna (Kaufman) Driver, was born near Versailles, Mo. April 10, 1901, and suddenly passed to her eternal reward Friday morning, Nov.18, at her home east of Cheraw, near La Junta, Colo., of coronary occlusion.

In 1912 she moved with her parents to Garden City, Mo. where she lived until Aug. 3,1925, when she was married to Harve E. Snyder of La Junta, Colo. They made their home near La Junta since that time until the Lord called her home.

To this union were born six sons: Glenn, Willis and Robert of the East Holbrook Community north of La Junta; Ronald of Ann Arbor, Mich.; Howard, as student of Hesston College, Hesston, Kansas; and Earl Jay of the home. All these sons survive her with her sorrowing husband her two daughters-in-law, Mrs. Glenn Snyder (Mary Lou Farmwald), Mrs. Robert Snyder (Audrey Hartzler), and three little granddaughters, Candace, Debra and Luana Sue Snyder.

She is also survived by her aged parents for whom she and her husband have lovingly cared the past eight years, two brothers and two sisters, D. D. Driver of Hesston, Kansas, Jake Driver of Blue Springs, Mo., Esther, Mrs. Harley Evers, Ontario, Calif., Lydia of La Junta, and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death b [sic] one brother, Menno Simon who passed away in 1909.

At an early age she was converted and became a member of the Mennonite Church. At the time of her passing she was a member of the East Holbrook Mennonite Church, and was keenly interested in all its activities especially that of its sewing circle which she felt a wonderful avenue of service.

She was reeply [sic] interested in the spiritual and physical well being of her family, her friends and community, and was always eager to give unselfishly and untiringly of herself and her time to help in whatever way she could. Her loss is keenly felt in her own home, in the home of her aged parents, in the church and in the community.

Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon, Nov. 20, at the East Holbrook Mennonite Church, in charge of Bro. Earl Showalter assisted by Bro. Darrel Otto, and she was tenderly laid to rest in the adjoining church cemetery.

For many months she had been eagerly looking forward to the time when her son Robert and family would return from Paraguay, S. A. This wish was granted about midnight Thursday, Nov. 17. She visited happily with them about one hour before retiring. on Friday morning she got up as usual and was preparing breakfast when the pain struck her about 6:30. All was done that loving hands could do for her, but about an hour and a half after she quietly passed to her long Home. We humbly bow in submission to His Holy will. — Her Sorrowing Family.
