SCHOOL PRINCIPAL AT WOOSTER, OHIO PASSED AWAY

Wooster, Ohio. — The principal of Wooster high school for a number of years, Vernon J. Smucker, passed away at Cleveland on Jan. 8 following an operation for a brain tumor.

Mr. Smucker was formerly active in Sunday school work of the Ohio Conference and the Mennonite General Conference, serving as chairman of the General Sunday School Committee from 1915-1924. He also served terms as editor of The Christian Monitor and the Christian Exponent, published at Scottdale, Pa.

He joined the local school system in 1925, and became well-known in Ohio educational circles. He was active in a number of civic and church organizations here.

His wife, the former Mary Hostetler, and three children survive.
