PETE SMITH

Pete Smith, son of Andrew and Katie Smith, was born Nov. 10, 1884, in Marion county, Kansas.

He came with his brother Louis to western Kansas in 1916. The two brothers have been engaged in fanning near Kismet for the past 35 years.

He was baptized by Rev. Frank F. Wedel on May 27, 1917, and was received into the fellowship of the Pleasant Valley Mennonite church. He remained a faithful and active member until his death.

On October 10, 1922, he was united in marriage to Mabel Weston. They were privileged to live together for 28 years.

His health began to fail a year ago and he passed away Jan. 21, 1951.

He leaves to mourn his departure his beloved wife Mabel; three step-daughters, Mrs. Elton Unruh of Liberal, Edith Weston of Hugoton and Mrs. Everett Blome of Livermore, Calif; three, sisters Mrs. Jacob Koehn of Plains, Mrs. C. Nightengale of Delphos, Kans. and Mrs. Tena Base of California; three brothers, Louis of Kismet, Tobe and Neal of McPherson, and a host of other relatives and friends.

His parents, three sisters and one brother preceded him in death.
