text of obituary:

CORNELIUS T. SMITH

Cornelius T. Smith was born on July 8, 1876, in McPherson county, Kansas. In August 1904, he was united in marriage with Katie Unruh of Durham, Kansas. Nine children were born to this union, of whom four preceded their father to their heavenly home.

Early in the spring of 1924 he was baptized upon the confession of faith in Christ and became a member of the Krimmer Mennonite church of Greensburg, and continued in this faith until his death.

For more than a year he had been suffering of cancer. This also brought his death at 12:30 P. M. on Monday, February 4, at Murray Memorial hospital in Dodge City.

He leaves to mourn his passing his wife and daughter Naomi of the home; one son Dennis and family; three daughters, Viola, Beatrice, Edna and their families, all of Greensburg and a host of relatives and friends.

His passing was quiet and peaceful. Previous to his death he had frequently expressed a readiness and willingness to depart and be with Christ. His preparations for departure testified that he recognized here no continuing city, but looked for that eternal city, “Whose builder and maker is God.”
