Widow of Eureka, Ill. Home Supt. Dies

Metamora, Ill. — Funeral services for Mrs. Anna Smith, 89, widow of the late Joseph D. Smith of Eureka, were held Feb. 1 at the Metamora Mennonite church, Rev. Roy Bucher officiating.

Mrs. Smith died Jan. 30 at the home in Eureka where she had lived for 39 years. She and her husband farmed for a number of years in Metamora township. He was a leader in establishing the Metamora Twp. High School in 1915 and was the district's first president. Later he supervised construction of the Mennonite Home for Aged in Eureka and served as superintendent until a few years before his death in 1952.

Surviving are three sons, four daughters, 12 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
