JOHN J. SLABUAGH

John J. Slabaugh, 67, died at 10 p. m. Tuesday, Aug. 5, at the home of his son, Gerry S. Slabaugh, six miles southeast of Nappanee, Ind., where he had resided since coming here from North Dakota 5½ years ago. He had been ill for 8 or 9 years.

Born May 30, 1880, in Ohio, the son of Joseph and Magdalena (Kuhns) Slabaugh, Mr. Slabaugh married Rhoda Yoder on Dec. 19, 1901, in Milo, N. d.

Surviving beside the widow are the following children: Eli and Gerry, of near Milford, Simon, Levi and Tobias of near Nappanee, Mrs. Erma Byler of Atlanta, Pa., Mrs. Lizzie Mast of Ligonier, Mrs. Nancy Yoder of Bourbon, Mrs. Rose Stutzman and Mrs. Martha Schwartz of Etna Green, Mrs. Annie Stutsman, Mrs. Fannie Burkholder, Jr., and Mrs. Edna Burkholder, all of Nappanee, and Mrs. Mathilda Slabuagh of Plymouth. Other survivors are two brothers, Manasses of Medford, Wis., and Joseph of Ohio; five sisters, Mrs. Amanda Miller, Mrs. Sarah Miller, Mrs. Deana Schmucker and Mrs. May Thomas, all of Nappanee, and Mrs. R. J. Miller of Bloomfield, Mo., and 80 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

The funeral was held at 9 a. m. Friday at the Levi Stutsman home, Valentine Yoder of the Amish faith, of which the deceased was a member, officiating. Burial in Weldy cemtery.
