MRS. MARIA SIEMENS

The daughter of Bernard and Katherine Reimer, (Mrs .) Maria Siemens was born on July 9, 1893 in southern Russia. At the age of 18 years she accepted Christ as her Saviour, was baptized and joined the Mennonite Brethren Church. She left Russia in 1925, making her first home in Stavely, Alta., then moving to Munson, Alta., in 1930. In that year she married John Siemens, a widower with four small sons whom she mothered with loving care. Two more sons were added to the family, and it was her deep concern that all her children follow in the ways of the Lord.

The Siemens retired from farming in 1951 , making their retirement and spiritual home in Coaldale, Alta. Her husband was taken from her side after 44 years of happy married life and she keenly felt the loss. After a long period of failing health, she passed away on November 9. Much loving care was given during her final illness by her sister, Katie.

At a memorial service held November 13 at the Coaldale Mennonite Brethren Church, pastor Rudy Heidebrecht, assisted by John Dueck, spoke words of comfort to the family from John 11.

She leaves to mourn six sons, and their wives, John and Elizabeth, Jake and Helen, Abe and Irmgard, and Ernest and MargarHt of Alberta, Ben in Winnipeg and Albert and Donna of Vancouver; 22 grandchildren; 15 great·grandchildren; two brothers, John and Jacob Reimer, both in Alberta; two sisters , (Mrs.) Katie Klassen of Coaldale and (Mrs.) Anna Warkentin in Russia; and many friends.
