Oklahoma Pioneer Is Laid To Rest
Corn, Okla. Aug 21. — Grandpa Jacob Siemens, who passed away at the hospital at Weatherford last Friday, was laid to rest in the Corn M. B. cemetery Monday afternoon. Grandpa Siemens had been a sufferer of cancer for several years and had occasionally asked for medical aid, which has evidently prolonged his life. During the later months his bodily strength was weakened considerably and he was unable to fight the ravages of cancer which were fast increasing. Mr. Siemens was one of the first settlers in Corn, having previously lived at Buhler, Kansas.
He has lived on a farm one mile north of Corn for several years, but for the last eighteen years he has been a resident of Corn. He was one of the first pioneers of this territory and he, aw well as many others, have helped to build Corn from its infancy up till now.
He was 81 years of age.
Church services were conducted Monday afternoon. Rev. J. J. Wiebe made the opening remarks after which Rev. H. W. Lohrentz delivered an appropriate sermon. All of his nearest relatives and children were present at the funeral except one sister, who lives in California.
