text of obituary:

CORNELIUS J. SIEBERT

Our husband and father, Cornelius J. Siebert, was born March 4, 1890, in York County, Neb. He was the son of the late John and Elizabeth (Epp) Siebert. He lived in the Henderson, Neb. community all his life except for 10 years, when as a boy his family lived near Mountain Lake, Minn. He passed away on Saturday morning, August 9, and attained the age of 68 years, five months and five days.

He was baptized upon his confession of faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and was received as a member of the Bethesda Mennonite Church on May 20, 1929, by Elder John F. Epp. He remained a faithful member until his death.

On April 3, 1921, he was united in marriage to Frieda Friesen with whom he was permitted to share 37 years of happy married life. This union was blessed with five children, three sons and two daughters.

He enjoyed farming and being outside where he could see and help take care of God's nature. About two years ago, upon retirement from the farm, he and mother moved to their home in Henderson. He enjoyed good health most of his life, but in the last few years it was known that he had Parkinson's disease. He was entirely bedfast for the last few months, yet he never complained of his misery. He had a quiet nature, yet was always friendly with whomever he met. It will always remain a cherished memory to his children that when he would rock them to sleep he would sing, “Holy God, We Praise Thy Name.”

He leaves to mourn his departure his loving wife, Frieda; three sons and two daughters, Leola, Mrs. Elmer Wiens of Inman, Kansas, Eugene of Henderson, Merle of Cheney, Kansas, Corinna, Mrs. Paul Ruth of Reedley, Calif., and Rudy of North Newton, Kansas; two sons-in-law and three daughters-in-law, Elmer Wiens, Mrs. Eugene Siebert, the former Effie Kroeker, Mrs. Merle Siebert, the former Florence Fast, Paul Ruth, and Mrs. Rudy Siebert, the former Mariann Wiebe; 12 grandchildren; two brothers and three sisters, Lizzie, Mrs. William Nunnenkamp, Peter J. Siebert, Henry J. Siebert, Sarah, Mrs. Leonard C. Peters, and Margaret, Mrs. D. W. Peters; four sisters-in-law, Mrs. Peter J. Siebert, Mrs. Henry J. Siebert, Mrs. John J. Siebert, and Mrs. D. J. Siebert; three brothers-in-law, Leonard C. Peters, D. W. Peters, and Jacob H. Peters; and many other relatives and friends.

Preceding him in death were three brothers, John J. Siebert, Nickie, who died in infancy, and Dietrich J. Siebert; two sisters, Katie, Mrs. Jake Peters and Mary, who died in infancy; one brother-in-law, William Nunnenkamp; and one sister-in-law, Mrs. Peter J. Siebert. — The Family.
