BURNS PROVE FATAL TO FOUR-YEAR-OLD INDIANA GIRL

Portland, Ind. — Funeral services were held in the Amish community here Sept. 24 for Lillie E. Shrock, four-year-old-daughter of Eli M. Schrocks who was fatally burned in a home accident. Relatives from a number of states attended the services.

The tragic mishap occurred Sept. 18 when an older brother Crist, ignited an open can of fuel while trying to start a fire to heat wash water. While rushing to carry the burning can from the house, he ran into his sister and some of the flaming liquid spilled on her clothing.

Before the flames could be put out, she was severely burned and died four days later in Jay County Hostital [sic].
