Businessman Suffers Fatal Heart Attack in Store

Archbold, Ohio. — Joseph L. Short, 67, merchant and funeral home director here for many years, suffered a fatal heart attack Jan. 2 at the Short Furniture Store which he operated with his son, Robert G. Short.

Mr. Short had suffered a heart attack in May 1962, but made a good recovery and was again active in his businesses.

Funeral services were held Sunday, Jan. 5, at the Central Mennonite Church near here.

Mr. Short had been a mortician and furniture dealer here most of his life. Formerly associated with the E. A. Beuhrer furniture store and funeral home, he purchased the store in 1941, and in 1943 opened a funeral home on North Defiance Street.

In addition to his son he leaves his wife, Katy; one daughter, Mrs. Mahlon Detter of Archbold; five grandchildren, three brothers and four sisters.
