ANNA B. SHANK

Anna B. Shank, 86, of Chambersburg, Pa., died Nov. 23, 2009, at Menno Haven. Born Dec. 1, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Samuel L. Bricker and Anna Wadel Bricker.

She was a member of Pond Bank Mennonite Church and the Menno Haven Auxiliary, where she served as a past president. She enjoyed volunteering and held volunteer jobs at Menno Haven until this past summer, logging more than 27,245 hours in more than 35 years of service. She was a Sunday school teacher and was involved in Christian Bible Ministries (Bible Release Time). In addition, she enjoyed quilting, sewing and reading.

She was an elementary school teacher in the Chambersburg Area School District, where she retired from teaching first grade at Fayetteville Elementary School. She was a member of the Pennsylvania State Education Association and National Education Association.

She is survived by her stepchildren, Leah Horst of Harrisonburg, Va., Miriam Nolt of Chambersburg, Pa., and Esther Lehman of Fayetteville, Pa.; 29 grandchildren; and many great- and great-great- grandchildren, as well as nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey E. Shank; four stepchildren, Eunice Bollinger, Lois Lehman, Luke Shank and James Shank; and two siblings, Martha Rosenberry and Ruth Fleagle.
