text of obituary:

Katherine Schrag Senner

Katherine Schrag Senner was born in South Russia on Jan. 17, 1871, and died at her home near Bloomfield, Montana, on Saturday evening, Dec. 6. Age 70 years, 10 months and 19 days.

Her husband, Jacob Senner, preceded her in death on Jan. 18, 1938.

At the age of 3 years she came to America and spent her youth near Freeman, South Dakota.

She was baptized and taken into the church near Freeman when she was 15 years of age.

On June 16, 1892, she was united in marriage to Jacob Senner of Freeman, South Dakota. To this union 10 children were born: Mrs. Fred Buller, Gust, Erhart, Henry, Alfred, William, Clara, Mrs. Alfred Kaufman, Raymond and Anna. Gust passed away in 1934.

With her husband and family they moved to Montana in the spring of 1910 and became a member of the Bethlehem Mennonite Church near Bloomfield, Mont. She has faithfully attended the church wherever it was possible.

Two weeks before her death she had a very enjoyable visit with her three sisters from South Dakota.

It was the request of the mother that the family together with the sisters gather on Thanksgiving day for a last family reunion.

Then already she knew her days here on earth were few and numbered. It was indeed a very happy day and all had much to be thankful for.

She leaves to mourn her death her nine children, thirteen grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, five sisters, Anna Schrag, Mrs. Ben Preheim, Mrs. Adolf Graber, Mrs. Will Barman, Mrs. Dan Merk and two brothers, John and Henry Schrag, all of South Dakota, and many nieces nephews and friends.

For some time Mrs. Senner has been failing in health. Her last few days were full of consciousness of her going. Her testimony was that she was ready to leave this life here below and go to be with the Lord. Even though her pain was intense, she expressed that it didn't compare with what Jesus suffered.

There's nothing terrible in death;
'Tis but to cast our robes away,
And sleep all night without a breath
To sweet repose till dawn of day.

Jesus, while our hearts are bleeding
O'er the spoils that death hath won,
We would at this solemn meeting
Calmly say, Thy will be done.

Funeral was held at the Bethlehem Mennonite church, Wednesday, Dec. 10. The services were conducted by her pastor, H. E. Widmer, who was assisted by Rev. Abe Unruh, in the German language.
