Great-Grandmother Called by Death
Pretty Prairie, Kan. — Mrs. Katherina Schwartz, wife of Peter A. Schwartz and a resident of this community since 1892, died here recently at the age of 84.
Mrs. Schwartz was a native of the Swiss Mennonite settlement in McPherson county and her family was among those moving to this area in the late 1890's. She was married here to Mr. Schwartz, and they would have reached their 65th wedding anniversary on Oct. 27 of this year. She was a member of the First Mennonite church here for more than 65 years. Funeral services were held at the church March 8.
Surviving in addition to her aged husband, who is bedfast as a result of a stroke, are a foster daughter, three sisters and three brothers, nine grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
