Retired Minister, Farmer Died
Berne, Ind. — Funeral services for David Schwartz, 90, former well-known minister and farmer of this community, were held at the Yager funeral home here Jan. 23, Rev. John F. Sprunger, assistant pastor of the First Mennonite church in charge.
Bro. Schwartz died Jan. 21 at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Jacob L. Liechty, in Ft. Wayne where he had lived since 1938.
A native of this community, he was a prominent dairyman here and was the founder of the Amish Christian congregation, of which he served as bishop and minister for a number of years. He leaves nine children, 46 grandchildren and 56 great-grandchildren.
