Samuel C. Schultz

Samuel C. Schultz, son of Christian and Helena Schultz, was born July 12, 1876, near Pawnee Rock, Kansas.

As a boy he attended the common schools and grew to manhood on his parents' farm. On June 12, 1894, he received holy baptism by Rev. Peter Buller and was received into the Mennonite church near Pawnee Rock. Kansas.

On February 18, 1896, he was united in marriage to Miss Elisabeth Unruh of Galva, Kansas, and to this union were born two sons and four daughters. One daughter preceded him in death in early infancy.

Soon after his marriage, Mr. Schultz moved to a farm six and one-half miles northeast of Pawnee Rock, where he lived until passing away.

In his family circle he was a loving husband and father full of devoted kindness, always thinking of ways how he might ease the task and difficulties of his wife and children. He never tired of giving good advice and lending a helping hand.

The Christian faith he lived as he understood it. He was always glad and willing to assist a neighbor. Although he was in poor health for a number of years and suffered much disagreeable pain since last spring, he uncomplainingly bore his suffering with great fortitude, still discharging his duties until his last serious illness.

He was in St. Rose hospital nearly five weeks, where he passed away to his eternal peace January 4 at 11:45 p.m. He reached the age of 62 years, 5 months and 23 days.

He leaves in deepest mourning his widow, two sons, Edward Schultz and Lincoln Schultz, three daughters, Mrs. Otis Unruh, Miss Clara Schultz and Mrs. Harvey Dirks, and nine grandchildren.

He also leaves to mourn three brothers and seven sisters also, many friends and neighbors.
