A Father and Mother Are Killed in Accident.

Mt. Lake, Minn., Nov. 3. — A father and mother are dead, and two children are seriously injured, as a result of a tragic collision between the Emil Schultz Ford sedan and a gravel truck late Friday afternoon, one mile east and two miles north of Butterfield on the George Baerg corner. The wreck was one of the worst in this vicinity in years, and leaves a large family of boys and girls orphans.

The two vehicles met with such force that both car and truck were catapulted a considerable distance and practically reduced to a mass of pulp. It came at a time when the Hectar Construction Co., who have the graveling job on No. 16 in Watonwan county, had almost completed their work, and threw a solemn sadnes [sic] over the entire community.

Mrs. Schultz, the 39-year-old mother, was killed instantly when she was crushed beneath the overturned car, which had been thrown through a fence into the corn field. Her husband, aged 40, was grievously injured, and died in the St. James hospital, where he had been taken,a bout nine o'clock Friday evening, five hours after the crash. The two sons riding with them, Albert, 17; and Edward, 5, were also seriously injured, and little hope was held for the younger son's recovery. He was lying in the St. James hospital, in an unconscious state. The older son escaped with comparatively minor injuries, and left the Bethel hospital here, where he had been taken, Monday. — Mt.
