MRS. PETER SCHROEDER

Martha Knak [sic Knaak] Schroeder, daughter of Anton and Marie (Nickel) Knak [sic Knaak], was born on Dec. 13, 1896, in Marion county, Kansas and spent her entire life in this community.

She received her formal education in the Lighthouse District school and in the Hillsboro Bible academy.

Upon the profession of her faith in Jesus Christ as her Savior, she was baptized and received into the membership of the Brudertal church by Rev. William Ewert on June 1, 1914. She later transferred her membership to the First Mennonite church in Hillsboro where she was a member at the time of her death.

She was united in marriage to Peter Schroeder on May 16, 1918. This union was blessed with nine children. One daughter Berniece preceded her in death.

During her pilgrimage here on earth she had many trials and many joys. All of these have only helped to prepare her for the life that is now hers.

She quietly slipped from us on Thursday afternoon, Nov. 19, 1959, reaching the age of 62 years, 11 months and 23 days.

She leaves behind her sorrowing husband, Peter; eight children, Vella and husband Lloyd Vogt of Rose Hill, Kansas, Roy and wife Jean of Newton, Earl and wife Melba of Benton, Kansas, Esther and husband Virgil Sidener of Wichita, Harold and wife Arlene of Wichita, Clarence and wife Dolores of Wichita; James and wife Beth of Hillsboro, and Verna and husband John Sills of Newton; 13 grandchildren; five sisters, Mrs. A. H. Penner and Mrs. Joe Jantz of Hillsboro, Mrs. Henry Epp, Mrs. S. R. Oliver and Frieda Knak [sic Knaak] of Newton; four brothers, Will, George, Anton, and Pete of Hillsoro; other relatives and friends.

She will be missed in the home and among her friends and other relationships. Mother has gone from this earth to a home God has prepared for her. We will miss her, but we can meet once more on the resurrection morn,and we can be reunited again in that great day.
