H. Schroeder

Henry Schroeder was born in Paulsheim, S. Russia, May 11, 1856. Being 11 years of age he moved with his parents to Crimea, where he spent his youth. In the year 1873 he accompanied his parents and seven brothers to this country, settling one mile south of Mt. lake, Minn., on a farm. On Nov. 229 [sic], 1877, he married Miss Anna Regier, with whom he lived 49 years, 9 months, 18 days. This union was blessed with 5 sons and 5 daughters, of whom 3 sons and 1 daughter preceded him in death. On June 5th he received an attack of pleurisy. After nine days he was again out for nearly a week when a severe case of sciatica caused him intensive pain. After a siege of five weeks the pain disappeared, only to be followed by severe stomach trouble combined with a serious case of hiccough. Then the patient seemingly regained strength and was able to leave the house which caused his loved ones to entertain hopes for a final recovery. But on the 15th of September his pains in the stomach returned and only through narcotics it was possible to assist the sufferer. he succumbed on Saturday, Sept. 24, at 11:45 P. M., reaching an age of 71 years, 4 months. — Mt. Lake View.
