DR. AUGUST J. SCHRAG

Dr. August J. Schrag passed away at Sunnyside, Washington on Monday morning, March 10, 1952, at the home of his son Alfred, after a lingering illness He was born in Freeman, South Dakota, December 16, 1878. He came with his parents to Dallas, Oregon in 1887, later moving to Eugene, Oregon.

In his youth, he was baptized into the Mennonite Church by confession of faith and upon moving to Soap Lake, Dr. Schrag joined the Soap Lake Community church, where he was choir director for several years.

On June 1, 1899, he was married to Anna Graber, who preceded him in death January 12, 1945. Their honeymoon was spent in a covered wagon coming to eastern Washington, where they homesteaded. Dr. Schrag has lived in Soap Lake, Washington since 1916, where, during his practice as a naturopathic physician, he made innumerable friends.

He is survived by five children: Alfred T. and Victor J. of Sunnyside, Washington; Mrs. Willie Groenig, Mrs. J. R. Caillouette and Mrs. A. H. Hobert, all of Soap Lake; two sisters, Mrs. Ida Allert and Mrs. Joe Gering of Everett, Washington; one brother, Dr. P. J. Schrag; twelve grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
