NEWTON & VICINITY
Theodore Schmidt, 94, died July 21 at Schowalter Villa Retirement Community in Hesston. He was a teacher and farmer and a member of Faith Mennonite Church in Newton. Services were held July 25 at Schowalter Villa, with Louis Goertz and Carol Swartzendruber officiating. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery in Newton. Survivors include a daughter, Sara Glick of Tacoma, Wash.; a sister, Anna Thiessen of Buhler; two grandchildren and a great-grandchild. His wife, Marie, died Feb. 27.
