— Jacob J. Schmidt, retired farmer from Goessel, passed away last Friday morning at the home of his son Menno H. Schmidt at 419 East Third street. Mr. Schmidt had been seriously ill for several months. Funeral services held at the Alexanderwohl church last Sunday afternoon were attended by a large crowd of friends and relatives. The services were conducted by rev. P. H. Unruh, Rev. C. C. Wedel, and Rev. P. P. Buller. Rev. J. J. Banman of Newton officiated at the committal service at the grave. Mr. Schmidt was 64 years of age and is survived by his wife, thee sons and one daughter and a foster daughter.
