Two Long-Time Hillsboro Residents Called by Death

Hillsboro, Kan. — Two long-time residents her were called away in death early last week.

Mrs. Eva Schroeder, 83, a life-long resident of Marion County, died May 14 at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Eva Jantzen, in Hillsboro. The former Eva Schmidt, her first marriage was to Peter Kasper who died in 1919. Her second husband was William Schroeder who died in 1937.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the Lehigh Mennonite Church, with Rev. Henry Isaac and Rev. P. W. Goering officiating.

Mrs. J. E. Schmidt, 83, a resident of the Salem Home for Aged, died May 13 at Salem Hospital. She was a native and long-time resident of McPherson, where her husband, Jacob E. Schmidt, taught school for many years. He served as librarian at Tabor College for about five years before his death in 1953.

Funeral services were held May 16 at the Hillsboro Mennonite Brethren Church.
