— Mrs. J. D. Schmidt passed away last night at the home of her children, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Schmidt, following a lingering illness. Mrs. Schmidt had been one of the old settlers of the Goessel community, but has lived with her children here in Newton for some time. funeral services have not yet been announced.
