Dallas, Oregon, June 15. — Heinrich Schmidt, 87, passed away Monday at his home near Dallas, Ore. Mr. Schmidt had been in failing health for several years. He suffered a stroke six weeks ago and another a few days previous to his death.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at the Henkle & Bollman chapel with Rev. J. M. Franz of Pratum and Homer Leisy, new pastor of the Grace Mennonite church, officiating.
Mr. Schmidt was born in Poland May 15, 1858. When a boy the family came to America, settling in South Dakota. The [sic] later migrated to Canada. He came to Oregon 22 years ago and had resided in or near Dallas for 13 years. Mrs. Schmidt passed away July 2, 1938.
They were the parents of 11 children, nine of whom survive. There are also 43 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren . The surviving children are: Henry Schmidt, Dallas; John, Perrydale; Gus, Monmouth; Leonard, Toby, Herman and Mrs. Nick Neufeld, Dallas; Mrs. George Peters, Mennon, Saskatchewan, Canada, and Mrs. Jacob Schultz, Waldheim, Saskatchewan.
