text of obituary:

FRANK K. SCHMIDT

Frank K. Schmidt, son of Jacob H. and Katharina (Klassen) Schmidt, was born on March 3, 1894, in Marion County, Kansas. He suffered a heart attack on the morning of Nov. 30, 1963, and departed this life at the age of 69 years, eight months and 27 days.

He attended public school and preparatory school at Goessel, Kan., and was baptized in 1914 upon confession of his faith by Elder Heinrich Banman and joined the Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church.

On June 13, 1919, he married Louise Frey and joined the Tabor Mennonite Church. To this union were born four children, two sons and two daughters. Father and mother joined the Alexanderwohl Church in 1936, where all the children became members. Father and mother moved to Newton in 1953 where they joined the First Mennonite Church on Nov. 7, 1957, where he remained a faithful member until his death.

During the last year his health would not permit him to remain too active in his farm work. He was always willing to help any one of the neighbors and friends, and more so any of the family even for minor items.

Those who remain to mourn his departure are his wife Louise; two sons, Alfred and wife Evelyn, Orlando and wife, Ruth; two daughters, Elda and husband, Herb Franz, Marcella and husband, LeRoy Woelk; 14 grandchildren; two brothers, Ben W. and Jacob K. of Newton; five sisters, Kathie, Sarah (Mrs. Henry Brandt) of Goessel, Anna (Mrs. George Unruh) and Helen (Mrs. Jake Boese) of Rural Newton and Marie (Mrs. Ferd Unruh) of Lehigh. His parents, five brothers, and one sons-in-law, Alvin Flaming, preceded him in death.
