MRS. ELIZABETH SCHMIDT

Elizabeth Schmidt (nee Martens) was born February 2, 1906 in Russia. In 1928 she entered marriage with Henry Schmidt, the Lord blessling them with one son and three daughters. She accepted Christ as personal Saviour and in 1932, upon her confession of faith, she was baptized and accepted into the Coaldale (Alta.) Mennonite Brethren Church.

She was found to have cancer in 1957 and despite several operations and lengthy hospitalization she went to be with the Lord on August 1, 1966.

"I know that my Redeemer liveth ... and though ... worms destroy this body yet in my flesh shall I see God," were the words of the invocation at her funeral on August 6. D. G. Dyck in his message on Revelation 2:10 underscored. "Be thou faithful unto death and I will give thee a crown of life." D. J. Pankratz enlarged upon the "'light affliction which is but for a moment (and) worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory." At the graveside H. H. Kornelson continued with 2 Corinthians 5: 1-4 and closed in prayer.

Mourning her passing are her husband, Henry Schmidt; one son, three daughters, and their families.
