Dewey Schmidt

Dewey Schmidt, son of Jacob and Annie Schmidt, was born July 21, 1919, near Goltry, Okla. He moved with his parents to Caddo county, Okla., in 1922. Here he grew to manhood southeast of Carnegie. He received his education a the Broxton school.

About three years ago his health began to fail, and he was taken to the Carnegie hospital on November 15. His case was pronounced as enlargement of the heart. When he realized his condition it was his wish to be baptized. He was baptized by Rev. A. W. Froese and became a member of the Greenfield church, November 21, 1937.

In the year of 1938-39 he attended the Oklahoma Bible accademy [sic] at meno. When there he received a the Word of God. In 1939 he became sick and was taken home on November 15 and could not return to his studies. He made his home at the Curd Clinic in Carnegie since January 3, 1940.

Although he suffered much, he was always happy and rejoicing in the Lord and often said that the Lord's will might be done and that God might be glorified in him.

On January 27 he became sick with intestinal flue and passed away march 19, 1941, at 5:30 p.m. at the age of 21 years, seven months and 19 days. he leaves to mourn his departure, his parents, four brothers: Herman of Nash, Okla.; Waldo, Floyd, Leslie; one sister Esther, all of the home. Two brothers have preceded him in death.

Rev. Albert Unruh of Meno had charge of the service at the home. He spoke on Luke 7: 13 and at church on 1 Thess 4: 14 - 17. Rev. Froese spoke on John 14: 1 - 4.
