Gray County, Kansas Retired Farmer Dies
Montezuma, Kan. — Death claimed one of the long-time residents of the Gray County Mennonite settlement in the passing of Daniel J. H. Schmidt, 77, on Sept. 8. He had been ill three years.
A native of Marion County, Kan., Mr. Schmidt was married there to Ida Koehn and they moved to a farm northwest of Montezuma in 1913. They lived here continuously except for six years' residence at Crowley, Colo., from 1953 to 1959.
Survivors include the widow, eight children, four sisters and four brothers.
Funeral services were to be held Sept. 13 at the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite church near here.
