ALBERT SCHMIDT

Albert Schmidt, son of Peter J. and Maria (Unruh) Schmidt, was born Aug. 4, 1893 on the family homestead near Goessel, Kan., where he lived and farmed all his life. He passed away at the Bethesda hospital in Goessel on Nov. 11 at 1:20 a.m., having reached the age of 68 years, three months and seven days.

He attended public school in the Greenfield School and later entered the preparatory school in Goessel.

On May 11, 1913, he was baptized upon confession of his faith in Jesus Christ by Rev. P. H. Richert and became a member of the Tabor Mennonite Church where he retained his membership until death.

On Oct. 5, 1924, he was united in marriage with Anna Lehrman by Rev. P. H. Richert. This union was blessed with two sons and two daughters. One son, Donald lee, died in infancy.

He enjoyed good health until the last three years, when he experienced several illnesses. He was admitted to hospitals for care in the spring of 1959, the spring of 1961 and the fall of 1961, during which time he underwent major surgery three times, the last of which was on Oct. 26.

The evening of November 10 he suddenly became ill at home and was transferred to the Bethesda Hospital where the Lord took him home. His parents, two sisters and a son preceded him in death.

He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife, Anna, a son, Hartzel of North Newton; two daughters, Arlene of Wichita, and Joan (Mrs. Robert J. Gray) of Newton; a sons-in-law, Robert J. Gray; a daughter-in-law, Ilene Schroeder Schmidt; and four grandsons, Brian David Gray; Rodney Alan, Charles Albert and William Jon Schmidt, two brothers-in-law, nephews, and nieces and friends.
