REV. JOHN M. SCHLICHTING

Rev. John M. Schlichting was born April 2, 1873 in Russia near Moscow to Martin F. Schlichting and Elizabeth Schlichting and went to be with his Saviour on June 19, 1963 at the age of 90 years, two months and 17 days.

At the age of 20 he moved with his parents to the United States and settled in Hastings, Neb. He realized his lost condition and accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Saviour, and was baptized on Sept. 24, 1893 by Rev. J. J. Regier. The following year he with the family moved to Corn, Okla.

On June 7, 1894 he was united in marriage to Mary Kroeker. To this union were born nine children. His wife and five children preceded him in death: Annie, Leah Heinrichs, Dina Henrichs [sic Heinrichs], Peter and John.

Our father was ordained to the ministry and served the Mennonite Brethren Conference for about 34 years.

He leaves to mourn, two daughters, Mary K. Helburn of Rosemead, Calif. and Elizabeth Reimer of Dallas, Ore.; two sons, Sam Schlichting, Stockton, Calif., and Martin K. Schlichting, Richmond, Calif. ; two brothers, Dr. F. D. Schlichting and J. D. Schlichting, both of Corn, Okla.; 15 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchilren [sic], and many relatives and friends.

Father enjoyed good health all his life. He began to fail about six months ago, but was patient and ready to go to be with the Lord. — The Bereaved Family.
