MANITOBA FARMER KILLED BY NEW TRACTOR HE HAD JUST BROUGHT HOME

Altona, Man., Sept. 15. — Death struck suddenly last Thursday when Mr. Jacob J. Schellenberg, Halbstadt, was killed in an accident with a tractor. He had purchased a new tractor and had just arrived home with it that afternoon. No one knows just how the accident occurred, as only his young son was with him at the time, but it is thought that Mr. Schellenberg went to crank the tractor, and being in gear, it began to move forward. He tried to shut off the motor, but one of the large reat [sic] wheels pinntd [sic] him against a tree and crushed him to death.

His wife noticed that something was amiss and ran out to him, but she could not be of any assistance. She asked him several questions, to which he nodded his head before he died.

Funeral services were held from the Halbstadt church on Sunday, Rev. Jacob Friesen officiating. — Altona Echo.
