British Columbia Couple Killed in Highway Crash

Kleefeld, Manitoba. — Family members from this area were called to Mt. Lehman, British Columbia to attend double funeral services for Mr. and Mrs. John Schartner, who were fatally injured in a highway crash early this month.

The services were conducted in the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite church at Mt. Lehman on Dec. 9, with Min. Frank W. Wiebe in charge.

It was reported here that the Schartners were moving to Salmon Arm, B. C., in the central part of the province, when their car was hit broadside as they turned into a service station. Mrs. Schartner was instantly killed, and her husband died four hours later.

The large family of survivors includes two sons and seven daughters and their families.
