MRS. SUSIE SAWATZKY

Funeral services were held for Mrs. Susie Sawatzky of 6951 Culloden St., Vancouver, B.C., on October 19, in the Fraserview Mennonite Brethren Church. Rev. Wilmer Kornelson officiated.

Mrs. Sawatzky was born February 20, 1906, in Eichenfeld, South Russia, the daughter of Heinrich and Helena Hildebrand. She had seven sisters and one brother and spent a happy childhood until the revolution claimed both her father and brother in 1918.

In 1923 the family moved to Canada and in April of 1925, Susie was united in marriage to Cornelius Sawatzky in Aberdeen, Saskatchewan. Shortly after her marriage she accepted Christ as her Lord and Saviour and was baptized in 1927. After the depression years in Saskatchewan the family moved to B.C. in 1943. On Sunday, October 16, she was suddenly and unexpectedly taken to be with the Lord. Left to mourn are her husband Cornelius; one son Norman; and four daughters: Anne and Sharon, still at home, and Verna (Mrs. A. Schroeder of Victoria, B.C.) and Jean (Mrs. E. Redekop of Kamloops, B.C.); twelve grandchildren; and three sisters: Mrs. Helen Driediger, Mrs. Eva Pauls and Mrs. Anne Schroeder.
