Early Settler Leaves 130 Descendants

Altona, Man. — Funeral services were held at the Sommerfelder church here April 7 for Johann Sawatzky, 91, farmer in the Silberfeld area near Gretna for many years who passed to his eternal reward at his home in Gretna on April 4. He was born in south Russia and migrated to the United States as a youth. He lived at Fargo, S. D. [sic N. D.] before moving to Manitoba.

He leaves his wife, who has been blind for some years; ten children, 45 grandchildren and 75 great grandchildren.
