WELL-KNOWN FARMER PASSED AWAY

Gnadenthal, Manitoba. — Jacob J. Sawatzky, 64, who passed away at Winkler on July 31, was buried here on Sunday, Aug. 3. Mr. Sawatzky had accompanied his son, J. J. Sawatzky, Winkler photographer, to a wedding and suffered a paralytic stroke while having lunch with friends. he was taken to his home and died there 16 hours later.

Mr. and Mrs. Sawatzky came to Canada from Russia in 1923 and farmed here until last fall when they retired and moved to Winkler. One of their four daughters, Mrs. J. P. Redekop, has been on the public school staff. A son, Armin, is principal of the Mennonite high school at Leamington, Ont.
