HILDI RUTH SAWATZKY

Hildegard Ruth Sawatzky, beloved daughter of Kaethe and Frank Sawatzky, was born in Winnipeg on October 22, 1949. She was a first child, and received as a gift from the Lord. She spent a happy childhood in the midst of her loved ones. She began her school years at the Lord Wolsley School, at which time she also joined the Children's Gospel Light Choir. At the age of 10 she recognized her need of a Saviour and gave her heart to the Lord. For two years she attended the MBCI in Winnipeg. During this time she was baptized upon confession of faith and accepted into the North Kildonan MB Church.

In December of 1965 she took seriously ill and there seemed to be no hope for her, humanly speaking. But the Lord granted her recovery and she was able to complete her high school in the River East Collegiate. In the summer months she served at Camp Arnes, and it was a joy to her to see children accept her Saviour.

Last winter she attended the Winkler Bible Institute. During this time she was often in the hospital and suffered a great deal, but she accepted it as from the Lord and believed that he had a purpose in all this and that God was in control. She had many battles but she kept faith with the Saviour who had bought her with a price.

For the last month she worked at the Salvation Army Bethany Home. She wanted to take up further studies in social work, but the Lord had a different service for her of which we read in Revelation 7. On Saturday, June 29, the Lord whom she was prepared to meet, called her home. We mourn as those who hope to see her again in Heaven.

She leaves to mourn, her parents; her sisters, Marlene, Lori, and Lydia; and her grandmother, Mrs. Maria Derksen.
