Western Oklahoma Pioneer Dies At Age 79

Corn, Okla. — Death removed another of the early pioneers in Western Oklahoma with the passing on Jan. 7 of J. C. Salaska [sic Sallaska] of Corn. He was 79 years of age.

A native of Marion County, Kan., he came to Fairview, Okla. with his parents at an early age. Following his marriage to Anna Schwalk in 1911 they established their home at Hydro, moving to Corn in 1915. Mr. Sallaska operated a hardware store here for a time, and then moved to his farm northeast of town.

Survivors include his wife, two daughters, four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted Jan. 10 at the Corn M. B. Church, of which he was a member.
