Fern Pankratz Ruth

Fern Pankratz Ruth, 86, died Saturday (March 11, 20016) at Newton Medical Center.

She was born Jan. 30, 1920, to Cornelius G. and Margarethe (Regier) Pankratz in Newton. She married Emry Ruth April 12, 1941, in Moundridge. He survives.

She was a member of Bethel College Mennonite Church in Newton. She was a member of the Kansas Authors Club.

Other survivors include: a son, Jay Ruth of Wichita; a daughter, Rachel Poling of Newton; brothers, Gilbert Pankratz of Hesston and Elbert Pankratz of Arvada, Colo.; a sister, Elizabeth Zuercher of Whitewater; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p. m. Wednesday with family greeting friends from 6:30 to 8 p. m. at Kaufman Funeral Home in Halstead.

Graveside service will be 1 p. m. Thursday at Halstead Cemetery.

Memorial service will be 3 p. m. Thursday at Bethel College Mennonite Church in North Newton with the Revs. Heide Regier-Kreider and Roger Juhnke officiating.

Memorials have been established with Bethel College Mennonite Church in care of the funeral home, 418 Chestnut, Halstead, KS 67056.
