ELDON M. RUPP

The funeral of Eldon M. Rupp, Sr., 64, of 702 W. Division St., Normal, Ill., was held Thursday, Sept. 25, at the Normal Mennonite Church. Rev. H. N. Harder, assisted by Rev. Milo Nussbaum, officiated and burial was in Waldo Cemetery near Gridley, Ill.

Mr. Rupp died Saturday, Sept. 18, on a vacation trip in Twin Falls, Idaho.

The family suggested that persons wishing to make memorials may designate the improvement fund of the Normal Mennonite Church and Mennonite Hospital, Bloomington.

Mrs. [sic] Rupp was born at Archbold, Ohio on April 30,1894, a son of Rev. Benjamin and Lydia Steiner Rupp. Rev. Rupp was the first superintendent of Mennonite hospital.

Since the day that Mr. Rupp came on the staff of the hospital in 1923 it has gone from a small fireproof building of 30 beds with two operating rooms and other facilities to its present 130-bed capacity with seven operating rooms, two delivery rooms and extensive x-ray and laboratory facilities. The nurses' home has also come into being with accommodations for 75 students, classrooms, auditorium, and recreational facilities.

He married Goldie E. Tosh Sept. 2, 1923. He was chief engineer at Mennonite Hospital the last 35 years.

Surviving are his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Victor Nafziger, Tremont; three sons, Eldon Jr. and Gerald E. of Normal, and Jonathan, at home; a sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Huffman of Tucson, Ariz.; a brother, Harvey of Ontario, Calif.; and six grandchildren. Two sisters and a brother preceded him in death.
