WILLIAM H. ROTH

William H. Roth, eldest son of Peter and Margaret (Zimmerman) Roth, was born Feb. 14, 1875, near Cropsey, in Livingston Co., Ill. and departed this life at the home of his daughter Mrs. John Hamilton at Harper Kan. on Thursday evening Jan. 12,1956, age 80 years, 10 months, and 28 days.

At the age of 23 years he with his parents, brothers, and sisters moved to Lamar, Mo.

He was united in marriage to Emma Stuckey of Harper, Kan. on Jan. 30, 1900. Tothis union three daughters were born: Mary, Mrs. John Hamilton, Irene, Mrs. Lester Barker, and Zelma, Mrs. Clarence Kreider, all of Harper.

They made their home near Lamar, Mo. until 1909, when they moved to near Burlington, Okla. In 1913 they moved to Harper, where he spent the remainder of his life.

On Nov. 30, 1925, he and his wife united with the Pleasant Valley Mennonite Church, always remaining faithful members.

He was preceded in death by his companion, in 1947, his parents, one sister, a brother and a grandson.

He leaves to mourn his passing his three daughters; five grandchildren, Delores, Glen, Clyde, Forrest, and Gwendolyn Kreider, two brothers, Henry of Kiowa, Kan. and Dan of Fairbury, Ill.; four sisters, Mrs. Ida Meiss, Louise and Emma Roth, and Mrs. Dan Huter, all of Fairbury, Ill.,; two aged aunts, a large number of nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.

He spent most of his life farming, retiring in 1942. He spent retirement walking, visiting and worshiping his Lord as often as possible. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him, but we humbly submit to God's will.

Memorial services were conducted on Jan. 15 at the Pleasant Valley Church. R. M. Weaver had charge of the devotional, using as a text I Cor. 15:12028, and Pastor Waldo E. Miller gave the sermon, based on Psalm 56. Wilbert Nafziger conducted the committal service.
