Early Wayland, Ia. Resident Died

Wayland, Iowa.—Chris H. Roth a farmer in this community most of his life, died on March 11 at the age of 86. He came to Wayne County, Ohio from Alsace, France at the age of three, and had lived in the Wayland community since 1885.

His first wife, the former Ella Roth, died in 1916, and his second wife, Mrs. Anna Widmer, died in 1936. He leaves two sons and two daughters, 19 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, a brother, Peter G. Roth of Noble, and one sister, Mrs. Emma Amstutz of Smithville, Ohio.

Funeral services at the Sugar Creek church on March 13 were in charge of Willard Leichty, Vernon Gerig and Vernon Roth. Those who came from a distance for the funeral included Mr. and Mrs. Murray Krabill, Rev. Russell Krabill, Mrs. Melvin Gingerich and Arnold Roth of Goshen, Ind., Mrs. Emma Amstutz, Mrs. Lerch, Mrs. Katie Smucker, and Mr. and Mrs. Noah Schrock of Wayne county, Ohio.
