Mrs. J. W. Roth

Barbara Eicher Roth was born in Washington County, Iowa, August 27, 1860. Died at her home in Wayland, Iowa, march 10, 1927 at the age of 60 years, 6 months and 12 days.

In her youth she accepted Christ as her personal Savior and united with the Sugar Creek Mennonite church of which she remained a faithful member until death called her, having lived a consistant [sic] Christian life.

On December 19, 1878, she was united in the holy bonds of matrimony with Joseph W. Roth. To this union was born 10 children, 5 sons and 5 daughters. One daughter preceded her in death about 12 years.

Mrs. Roth was a devoted wife and mother. She was deeply interested in the work of her Master. during the last few weeks of her life she spent much time in prayer for her sick daughter. When ever she was not busy of a few minutes, she would seek a quiet place and pray.

She leaves to mourn her sudden death her husband, 5 sons, and 4 daughters, 22 grand children, 3 sisters, 1 brother and a host of relatives, friends and neighbors.

The funeral of Mrs. J. W. Roth was held from the Sugar Creek church Wayland, Iowa, Monday morning, March 14, at ten o'clock, after a short service in the home, where Rev. H. J. Schrag spoke briefly and offered prayer. The service at the church was in charge of Rev. Daniel Grber, who spoke in German and offered prayer. — Wayland News.
