. . .

— A deep tragedy was witnessed by many at the Sand Creek bridge on West 12th street last Friday afternoon when the lifeless body of nine year old Johnnie Rosner was removed from a water-hole into which he stepped accidentally when he tried to cross the creek with an older friend. Shadowed from the hot sun by a large umbrella, doctors and attendants tried for two hours to resuscitate the lad by using artificial respiration. Deeply stirred by the accident, those standing near by hoped that the bright-looking young boy's life could be restored, which however proved impossible. His 12 year old companion had endeavored to rescue hm out of the water hole almost directly under the bridge, but finding himself unable to do this ran for help. When help came the boy had been under water for about ten minutes. His father, John Rosner, is employed at the Goerz mill. Funeral services were held at the Methodist church Tuesday morning.
